KAMPACHI MARKS GOLDEN JUBILEE WITH SPECTACULAR EVENT

Kuala Lumpur, 12 January 2025 – Kampachi, the first name in Japanese dining in Malaysia, marks the close of its golden jubilee celebrations with a spectacular celebration at EQ. This milestone event held at the hotel’s Diamond Ballroom brought guests and business partners on a journey down memory lane, celebrating Kampachi’s achievements and leadership in Japanese cuisine over the past fifty years. What began as a small restaurant in the original Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur in 1974 has since expanded to three at the flagship EQ, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and at Plaza33 in Petaling Jaya. A fourth location in Hotel Equatorial Penang will resume operations in 2026 following an extensive renovation of that property now ongoing.

ARTIST YAN SOOK LEONG’S COPPER TOOLING ARTWORK FINDS ITS HOME AT EQ KUALA LUMPUR

Robb Report, Kuala Lumpur, 12 December 2023 – In conjunction with EQ Kuala Lumpur’s 50th anniversary, the establishment honoured its artistic legacy with Yan Sook Leong, the artist behind the copper tooling artwork prominently displayed in EQ Kuala Lumpur’s lobby. This piece, rich in historical significance, reflects the ancient artistry of copper tooling––a craft that involves manipulating sheet metal through techniques such as embossing, stamping, denting, piercing, rub-transferring, folding, and hammering. Spanning over 10,000 years, this stands as one of humanity’s earliest metalcraft innovations.
