Architecture Malaysia – Like many buildings along that famous strip, the all-concrete Equatorial was a quintessential product of the seventies, inevitably capitulating to 21st-century realities with its 2012 demise. What stands in its place in 2019, though dispossessed of erstwhile similarity, nevertheless captures in its own fashion, the same pioneering spirit of yesteryear. Bigger, bolder and better, the Plaza Equatorial has returned.

Buro 24/7 – EQ is KL’s most anticipated hotel opening of the year. Formerly known as Equatorial Hotel KL, it has since been stripped down completely, rebuilt and rebranded. But even with a new, shiny look, it’s no stranger. One of the features that EQ has kept is its all-day dining restaurant, Nipah. As an excuse to properly check out the hotel in the flesh, we headed over for lunch and though we walked away with a tummy full and satisfied, we also realised Nipah is set to have one of the best buffets in KL.

Kampachi has once again been named Best Japanese Restaurant in the annual Time Out Kuala Lumpur Food Awards! Kampachi has received the recognition by Time Out KL and its readers for 9 times out of the 10 years these awards have been held. It is certainly an unprecedented achievement – among all the restaurants across all the categories, no other establishment has done this.
